Crucial Showdown Between Simeone and Alvarez to Decide Future at Atletico Madrid
Julián Álvarez, Atlético Madrid's striker, is looking forward to a direct meeting with his coach Diego Simeone today, Wednesday, to discuss his future with the team, after the player insisted on his desire to leave during the current summer transfer window.
Alvarez returned to Atletico Madrid training on Monday with the aim of speaking to Simeone and requesting permission to leave, but the coach was not present as he had traveled to Ibiza for two days of rest following his return from the Asian tour.
Miguel Angel Gil Marin, the CEO of Atletico Madrid, was absent from the training ground due to vacation, depriving Alvarez of the opportunity to speak with the two individuals he considers most important in trying to find a solution for his future through dialogue.
The Argentine forward completed two training sessions yesterday, Tuesday, in the presence of Mateo Alemany, the sporting director of Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, his agent, Fernando Hidalgo, continues to closely monitor his situation, having been responsible for taking him to and from the training complex.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reports that Alvarez is feeling intense anger and has been insisting since Monday on his desire to leave Atletico Madrid, confirming that he does not want to continue with the team and is prepared to take more drastic steps if necessary, after attempting to address the crisis through dialogue.
Alvarez wants to inform Simeone during today's meeting that he is still determined to leave, with his goal of moving to Barcelona remaining intact. According to reports from the Spanish newspaper citing sources close to the player, the Argentine striker has a promise from Atletico Madrid since last February to facilitate his transfer this summer.
