Phillips Returns to Sheffield United on Loan

English midfielder Calvin Phillips has returned to Sheffield United from Manchester City on a one-season loan.

Philips spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United, but he only made three appearances for the team.

The player was sent off during the clash against rivals Sheffield Wednesday, resulting in a three-match suspension. He was then sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Phillips stated after completing his transfer: "This was the step I wanted. My previous experience was ruined by my last match and the injury I suffered afterwards, so I came back here to set things right."

Sheffield United's manager Chris Wilder said: "From the first day Calvin arrived here, he immediately showed he has the character and qualities needed, both on the pitch and behind the scenes. He also gives us more experience in a very important area of the pitch."

He added: "Calvin is a winning player; he has achieved a lot throughout his career, and he will be a role model for this young group we have here."

Kalvin Phillips has two years left on his contract with Manchester City, having joined the club in 2022 from Leeds United for £42 million.

Kalvin Phillips has made only 32 appearances for Manchester City since joining the club, having suffered a shoulder injury during his first season, before losing his place in the plans of former manager Pep Guardiola.
