Cancelo Intensifies Push for Barcelona Move Amid Al Hilal Deal Hurdles
João Cancelo continues to apply pressure for his transfer to Barcelona, having posted a picture on his social media accounts celebrating a goal in the Catalan club's jersey, as he awaits clarity on his future in the coming days.
According to Spanish newspaper "Sport", João Cancelo has started to feel bored training with Al-Hilal, while Barcelona is committed to completing the deal quickly so that the player can join the team's training and prepare for the start of the league competitions.
The deal is encountering some obstacles, including tax issues and the Saudi side's insistence on certain details of the transfer process, but Barcelona continues to work towards completing it, especially as the club sees Cancelo's arrival as an important step following Ronald Araujo's departure.
The Portuguese player has reached an agreement with Barcelona to join the team for two seasons, while the Catalan club is negotiating with Al Hilal for a deal worth around €10 million.
João Cancelo was supposed to avoid joining Al Hilal's training this summer, but that did not happen, and the player had to stay several days in Saudi Arabia to finalize the termination of his contract, before attempting to resolve the outstanding issues.
Sport has reported that Cancelo's message could be a sign of his impending return to Barcelona, or an additional pressure tactic on both clubs to conclude negotiations. The player had previously secured a starting position with the team during his loan period and continues to attract interest from Hans Flick for his ongoing future.
