Newcastle Prioritizes Højbjerg to Strengthen Midfield

Reports have revealed that Newcastle United is intensifying its efforts to secure the signing of Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Marseille during the current summer transfer window.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle is pushing hard to complete the deal for Højbjerg, despite the club being linked with several other midfielders, as the Danish player has become a priority for the club in midfield.

Romano added that German coach Matthias Jaissle is also pushing for the signing of Hojbjerg, considering him a primary target to bolster the team's midfield.

Newcastle's interest in Højbjerg comes amid significant changes in the team's midfield, following the departure of several key players, prompting the club to search for a player with experience and the ability to lead the midfield.

Pierre Højbjerg, aged 31, has extensive experience in the Premier League, having previously played for Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur before his transfer to Marseille. Other reports suggest that the deal could be around €15 million.

Newcastle seems prepared to make a serious move to finalize the deal, especially with Yaisle's desire to add an experienced midfielder to his new project with the team.
