Al-Ittihad has closed the chapter on Brazilian midfielder Fabinho's journey, officially announcing his departure from the team, marking the end of his time with the "The Grand" after three seasons filled with numerous successes.
The club posted a farewell message on its official account on "X", stating: "Farewell to a brave captain... He arrived as a star with humility, led his team with great skill, and departed as a lover, having left an unforgettable imprint."
The club stated: "He was an example of professionalism, a role model for everyone around him both on and off the pitch, and a name that deserves to be remembered among those who wore the captain's armband during a historic phase that contributed to creating exceptional glory." They concluded their message by saying: "Thank you, Fabinho... You will remain a shining star in the hearts of the fans."
Fabinho joined Ittihad in the summer of 2023 from Liverpool, and has played 83 matches for the team across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. He also played a crucial role in the club's double triumph in the league and cup during the 2024-2025 season.
In an emotional farewell, the player addressed the Al-Ittihad fans, saying: "Today marks the end of my journey with you as a player and the beginning of my journey as a supporter of this club. Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality I received from you. I was honored to wear the captain's armband for this prestigious club and experienced a remarkable phase in my sporting career with you."
Fabinho added: "We shared joys and sorrows, won trophies together, and I enjoyed watching your creativity in the stands to the point where I now chant with you all out of love. I hope I never spared any effort in serving this club. Thank you once again; the club will always remain in my heart."
