Meet Marino Pusic: The New Coach of Al Ahly

Bosnian Marino Pusic has taken over as head coach of Al Ahly with a contract running until June 2028, succeeding German Matthias Jaissle, as he embarks on a new chapter with the team ahead of the season's kickoff.

Boussetich arrives at Al Ahly after his last experience with Al Jazira in the UAE, where he took charge in September 2025, before his mission ended at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, with the team finishing the league in fourth place without winning any trophies.

His experience with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine remains the most prominent in his coaching career, leading the team to win both the league and cup titles during the 2023-2024 season. He then retained the Ukrainian Cup title in the following season.

The Bosnian coach has achieved remarkable numbers with Shakhtar, leading the team to victory in 44 out of 71 official matches, securing three domestic titles and demonstrating his ability to compete and win trophies.

Bousitc's journey also included working within the coaching staff of Dutch side Feyenoord alongside coach Arne Slot. He held several coaching roles at FC Twente before making the move to Shakhtar in October 2023.

Boussetich is preparing to face strong challenges with Al Ahli, as he will lead the team in the Roshen Saudi League, the King Salman Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup, in addition to defending the AFC Champions League title.
