Will Top Matches This Season Feature Egyptian Referees?

Samir Mahmoud Othman, the Vice President of the Referees Committee, spoke about the possibility of holding Ahly and Zamalek matches in the upcoming season with Egyptian referees.

Samir Othman stated during a phone call on Sada El Balad channel: "We have started the referees' camp, and the most important topics being discussed are the new amendments to the football laws and also the controversial situations that have occurred both internationally and locally. The camp will also cover the VAR technology."

He added: "We are putting in a lot of effort, and I wish the league's start could be postponed for a while to better prepare the referees for the season's kickoff."

Othman stated: "We are racing against time to prepare the referees to ensure the success of the Egyptian league next season."

Samir Othman stressed the importance of analyzing controversial referee decisions both in closed rooms and publicly, pointing out that there are details that the average fan may not be aware of, which should be clarified through the presentation of contentious cases.

Othman stated: "There is no such thing as a similar play in refereeing; there are no similar plays in football, but there are small details that can change the decision from one play to another."

Regarding the possibility of Egyptian referees officiating the top matches in the new season, Osman said: "We hope to manage the top matches this season with Egyptian referees, but our goal is to ensure the success of the competition."

Othman stated: "The responsibility is on us and the referees to ensure the success of the next season," pointing out that all the football modifications implemented in the World Cup will be applied in the new league season.
