Osama Nabih Reveals Reason for Son's Move to Iraqi Mosul

Egyptian coach Osama Nabih, former manager of the U-20 national team, has announced that his son, Yusuf Osama Nabih, will be joining the Iraqi league for the upcoming season. This move comes after securing an offer from Mosul FC and receiving final approval from Zed FC for his permanent transfer.

Nabih stated in exclusive remarks that Youssef has made his decision to accept Al-Mosul's offer after a short negotiation period, confirming that the Iraqi club has received approval from Zed for the player's permanent transfer for one season.

Nabeih pointed out that the decision to move to Iraq came after discussions with his son, adding that he has been following the recent successes achieved by Egyptian coaches in Iraqi stadiums, notably Moamen Soliman, who won the league title with Al-Shorta.

He added: "Ahmed Abdelkader has delivered very impressive performances with Al-Karma, which gives me optimism that Yusuf can shine with Mosul and provide the necessary boost to the team's attack."

Nabi believes that the Iraqi league has seen significant development in recent years, becoming an attractive destination for players and coaches of various nationalities, thanks to the rising technical level, large fan attendance, and competitive atmosphere. These factors have helped Youssef take the step to turn professional there.

He explained that playing in the Mosul shirt could represent a new starting point for his son to return to the spotlight, noting that shining in Iraq could open the door for him to return to the Egyptian national team in the future, especially since Yusuf excels in multiple attacking positions, whether as a left winger or a central striker.

Youssef Osama Nabih is 25 years old and began his career in the youth sector of Zamalek, before moving to Enppi and then returning to the White Castle, where he was loaned to Aswan to gain experience.

After being promoted to the first team, he contributed to Zamalek's Egyptian Premier League title in the 2021-2022 season, then moved to Pyramids, and subsequently to Al-Ittihad Alexandria on loan. In the summer of 2025, he transferred permanently to Zed Club, before deciding to embark on his first professional experience abroad with Al-Mosul.

According to the numbers, Youssef has played 102 matches with the clubs he represented in Egypt, scoring 7 goals and assisting 9.

Mosul FC is looking to enhance their attacking line by bringing in Yusuf, aiming for diverse options in the front positions, and taking advantage of his speed and tactical flexibility.

The player is set to arrive in Iraq within the next few hours to join the team camp and start collective training in preparation for the launch of the Iraqi Premier League.
