Borussia Dortmund announced today, Monday, August 3, 2026, the official signing of young Greek international Konstantinos Karitsas from Belgian club Genk.
Karitsas, aged 18, has signed a contract with Dortmund that runs for five years, until June 30, 2031.
Lars Ricken, Borussia Dortmund's executive sports director, stated: "With Koss, we are adding a player with immense potential despite being only 18 years old. We are pleased to have convinced him of Borussia Dortmund's project, and from the very first moment, we felt his excitement to join the club."
Sporting director Oli Pock has confirmed that Karitsas "will add a lot to the team thanks to his creativity and intelligence in play," pointing to his technical abilities and knack for finding quick solutions in tight spaces, especially in the final third of the pitch.
Karić played 34 matches in the Belgian league last season with Genk, providing 11 assists. He also participated in 11 matches in the Europa League, scoring two goals and assisting five.
On the international stage, Karitsas made his debut with the Greek national team in March 2025, and since then he has played 10 international matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
The player expressed his happiness about the move to Dortmund, saying: "Borussia Dortmund is a special club, and I am extremely proud to wear the yellow and black shirt. I am very much looking forward to getting to know my teammates and playing soon in this wonderful stadium in front of our fans, and I want to contribute to achieving success together."
