Official: Newcastle United Signs Goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký

Newcastle United has officially announced the signing of Czech international Lukáš Hrádecký from Portuguese club Sporting Braga during the current summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has signed a five-year deal with Newcastle, in a transfer deal that has not been disclosed.

Hornicek is the fifth signing for Newcastle's first team this summer, following Ewan Gawain, Bazoumana Toure, Sean Storer, and Alaji Bamba.

Hornicek stated upon joining: "It's a great opportunity in a new league and I'm very excited. I know Newcastle is a big football city, and the 52,000 fans at St. James' Park create an amazing atmosphere and push the team in every match. I can't wait to play in front of them."

The goalkeeper had an impressive season with Braga, contributing to the team's reach to the Europa League semifinals. Braga finished fourth in the Primeira Liga, and Hornecik kept a clean sheet in 12 matches, conceding 33 goals throughout the season.

Hornicek joined Braga in 2019, before establishing himself as the team's first-choice goalkeeper since January 2025. He made his international debut with the Czech Republic last May during a friendly victory over Kosovo, winning 2-1.
