Mourinho Sparks Battle Between Trent and Dumfries at Real Madrid

The right-back position at Real Madrid has entered a new phase of competition as preparations for the upcoming season begin, following Dani Carvajal's departure which ended a long period of stability in this role. This opens the door for a direct battle between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries to secure a spot in the starting lineup.

Dumfries' defensive skills provide a relative advantage in Mourinho's calculations, especially with expectations pointing to Jan Duran's participation alongside him on the right flank in the new season, which necessitates the presence of a full-back capable of providing defensive balance.

On the other hand, Trent remains one of the standout players in play construction thanks to the quality of his passing and his ability to connect the lines and create chances from the back. However, his limited defensive roles may represent a weakness against fast and powerful wingers in major matches.
