Spanish midfielder Mark Casado's future with Barcelona is in doubt, as his chances of getting regular playing time under German coach Hans Flick have diminished, despite the player's desire to remain within the Catalan club.

Casado participated for 62 minutes in the friendly match where Barcelona drew with Birmingham City. He is looking forward to another opportunity in the upcoming match against Preston North End, before finalizing his situation upon the team's return to Barcelona, and ahead of the summer transfer window closing.

According to the report, Hans Flick has informed his player that his chances of participating next season will be limited, given the strong competition in midfield, which has put Casado in a new reality regarding his future.

Despite the player believing that Dutchman Frenkie de Jong's injury, which will keep him out for several months, might give him more space to participate, the presence of Marc Bernal, Pedri, and Gavi, along with Eric Garcia who can play the same position, makes the task of securing a starting spot more complicated.

Barcelona had rejected, before June 30, an offer worth €10 million to part ways with Casado, despite the club's need to improve its financial situation.

Meanwhile, the management values the player at between €30 and €40 million, based on his young age of 22, as well as his contract that runs until the summer of 2028, in addition to being one of the players in the Spanish national team.

Casado's numbers reflect a clear decline in his status within the team, having participated in 36 matches during the 2024-2025 season for a total of 2447 minutes, before his appearances dropped last season to just 34 matches and 1397 minutes.

The player is worried about the ongoing decline if he chooses to remain, given the intensifying competition for midfield positions.

Despite his strong connection to Barcelona, where he joined the academy at the age of thirteen from Dam, and successfully made it to the first team, his agent Jorge Mendes has begun exploring available options in the transfer market.

Casado's name has been linked with interest from Saudi club Al Hilal, along with offers from clubs in the Turkish league. However, the player has turned down all those options, preferring to continue his career in one of the major European leagues.

Mendez continues to search for an offer that meets the player's aspirations and aligns with Barcelona's financial demands. However, the task appears complicated, as the Catalan club is adamant about receiving a substantial amount for the young midfielder, while Casado is keen on choosing a sporting project that guarantees him regular participation.
