Juventus Withdraws from Debo Martinez Deal

Aston Villa has received notification from Juventus that the Italian club has decided not to move forward with the deal for Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martinez, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano clarified that the decision was made within Juventus several days ago, before being officially communicated to Aston Villa, after the management of "La Vecchia Signora" concluded that the total cost of the operation was excessively high.

Martinez has emerged as one of Juventus' top targets to strengthen their goalkeeping position, especially after other options faltered. The club has already begun to move towards the Argentine goalkeeper, with Romano confirming in July that Juventus made an initial offer for the player and that Martinez was open to a transfer, with the agreement with Aston Villa remaining the main hurdle.

However, the negotiations hit a wall due to Aston Villa's financial demands. Previous reports indicated that the English club insisted on a high valuation for the goalkeeper, while Juventus attempted to lower the cost of the deal, before the negotiations reached an impasse.

The completion of the deal has become more difficult after Aston Villa announced in July their commitment to the Argentine goalkeeper. Football operations director at the club, Damian Vidagany, stated that Martinez "will stay with us," confirming there is no intention to let him go this summer, and that he is a key part of the team's project for the upcoming season.

With Juventus withdrawing from the Martinez deal, the Italian club must reassess its options in the goalkeeper position, with other names on their list, most notably Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham and Zion Suzuki of Parma, alongside other alternatives.
