Becchio Begins Journey with Barcelona

Young Belgian talent Jesse Bessio has begun his journey with Barcelona, having participated in his first training session with the Catalan club under the guidance of German coach Hans Flick, following his official transfer to the club on a contract that runs until the summer of 2031.

The training session took place at St George's Park in England, where Barcelona is holding its pre-season camp in preparation for the new season, following a friendly draw against Birmingham City with a score of 2-2.

The training session saw the first appearance of the new signing, who joined Barcelona from Club Brugge for a fee of around €8.5 million, marking the beginning of his journey with the Catalan team.

Becio, 18 years old, participated in the first part of the team training before undergoing an individual fitness program, according to the plan set by the coaching staff to gradually prepare him after joining the team.

The first training session allowed the player to get to know his teammates and work for the first time under Hans Flick, with plans to continue participating in the team's training throughout the remainder of the England camp.

Barcelona is set to conduct two training sessions on Sunday at St. George's Park, before concluding their camp, which aims to enhance the team's readiness for the new season, amid the continued absence of several international players whose participation extended into the later stages of the 2026 World Cup.

Barcelona's investment in signing Bessio reflects the club's confidence in his talent, as they intend to give him the opportunity to play with both the first team and the B team during the upcoming season, with his participation levels determined by his technical development and the coaching staff's requirements.

Hansi Flick is considering granting the player minutes in the upcoming friendly matches, providing him with an opportunity to gradually adapt to the first team's environment before the season kicks off.

Bissou, of Ghanaian descent, is considered one of the brightest emerging talents in Belgian football, having caught the eye during last year's UEFA Under-17 Championship, before Barcelona successfully secured his signature.

Barcelona has three friendly matches remaining before the start of the official season, as they participate in a three-team friendly tournament on August 8, facing Nottingham Forest and Udinese.

The Catalan team will wrap up their preparations on August 19 with a match against Egyptian club Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will take place at Camp Nou.
