South African coach Rulani Mokwena has praised the abilities and quality of his Pyramids players, looking to leverage their technical skills as they gear up for the start of the 2026-2027 football season.

Rulani Mokwena stated in remarks to a South African radio station: "We have a very strong team, starting with El-Shenawy, the captain in goal, as well as defenders with great experience, who are good in both aerial and ground aspects."

The South African coach added: "We have Mohamed Hamdy at left-back, who is one of the best players, and he would have participated in the World Cup if it weren't for the injury he suffered."

He continued: "Karim Hafez was amazing in the World Cup, and if you watched the match against Argentina with Lionel Messi, he delivered an extraordinary performance."

Regarding Mahmoud Lashin, the star midfielder of the Egyptian national team, he said: "He is an international player, very good especially in ball recovery, trying to press back, and the physical strength needed in midfield."

Regarding Hamed Hamdan, he said: "There is also a good Palestinian player, he is very strong technically and has a very good tactical background for development."

The coach stated: "We have a Moroccan international player at right-back, referring to Mohamed Chibi, who provides a lot of options in set pieces and open play to create some opportunities for the team."

Rulani Mokwena concluded his statements by saying: "Zico had an amazing performance in the World Cup, and I believe he has joined Mohamed Salah and Emam Ashour on the list of Egyptian players who have scored in the World Cup, so we are also excited to have him with us."
