Zakho Close to Securing Ali Jassim Transfer

Iraq international star Ali Jassim is close to etching his name among the most expensive transfers in Iraqi football history, as his negotiations with Zakho have reached their final stages, with a strong desire from the "Children of Khabour" to finalize the deal in the coming hours.

According to close sources, the 22-year-old player has been in the Kurdistan region since yesterday to hold final meetings with Zakho's management and agree on the terms of the contract.

Zakho's moves are part of a clear plan to build a strong lineup for the new season, after the club previously signed several notable names such as Shirzod Timerov, Mustafa Saadoun, and Haroon Ahmed.

Sources indicate that Zakho's management has made a massive financial offer amounting to 2 billion Iraqi dinars, which is approximately 1.5 million dollars, to secure the signing of Ali Jassim.

The player has tentatively agreed to the offer, with part of the amount to be transferred to Como, as the deal will be on loan until the end of the 2026-2027 season, before the player's contract with the Italian club expires next summer.

Zakho's management believes that Ali Jassim is the "missing piece" in French coach Laurent Banide's project, especially after his significant rise in market value following his participation in the World Cup.

Sources have indicated that Arbil has recently entered the negotiations in an attempt to secure the player, but their financial offer has not reached the level of what Zakho presented.

As a result, the official announcement of the deal is expected within the next few hours, making it the highest value transfer in the history of Iraqi players domestically.

Following the completion of the agreement, Ali Jassim will head directly to join Zakho's training camp in Turkey, in preparation for the new season.

The team is currently concluding its training camp in Burdur, Turkey, on Saturday, before moving to Antalya for a second camp that will last until next Thursday, featuring intensive training sessions to enhance physical and technical readiness.
