Official: Schmidt Succeeds Klopp at Red Bull Group

The Red Bull Group has announced the appointment of German coach Roger Schmidt as the new global head of football, replacing compatriot Jürgen Klopp. Schmidt will officially take over on October 1, after signing a long-term contract with the group.

Schmidt will work alongside Florian Schultz, the head of the commercial football sector, to supervise the development of the sports and commercial future of the Red Bull club system worldwide, continuing to implement the group's strategy focused on talent development and achieving success at the highest levels.

Schmidt expressed his happiness about the new position, saying: "I am very happy with this new step and proud to return to the Red Bull family. The group has a unique and ambitious network of clubs, based on a clear philosophy of developing young players while competing at the highest levels. This combination is what makes this role extremely attractive to me."

Roger Schmidt is one of the most prominent German coaches, having previously worked within the Red Bull system when he led Red Bull Salzburg. He later managed Bayer Leverkusen, PSV Eindhoven, and Benfica, and now he returns to the group through global sports management.
