Barcelona Keeps Tabs on Jorge Salinas

Barcelona is still keen on signing young defender Jorge Salinas, who plays for Racing Santander, but they are insisting on completing the deal for a fee between 4 and 6 million euros at most.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona's management views Salinas as a player for the future more than as an immediate contributor, which is why they do not intend to exceed the financial ceiling they have set.

Barcelona's interest comes after the impressive season the 19-year-old player had, participating in 33 matches, providing 6 assists, and contributing to Racing Santander's promotion to La Liga. He also celebrated winning the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the Spain national team.

The source added that Salinas, who has shone in the left-back position despite being primarily a center-back, could join Barcelona if the financial demands align with the club's vision, noting that he is represented by agent Jorge Mendes.

Salinas recently visited the offices of Gestifute in Porto to discuss his future, while Mendez held a meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, as the club continues to monitor the player's situation.

Salinas is tied to a contract with Racing Santander until 2029, which includes a release clause of €16 million, having risen from €8 million following the team's promotion to La Liga.
