Yamal's Uncle: We Never Imagined He'd Reach This Level
Abdul Abdellawi, the uncle of Spanish star Lamine Yamal, has expressed his immense pride in what his nephew has achieved, emphasizing that their relationship goes beyond mere family ties, as he considers him a "son."
Abdellawi, who runs a family restaurant in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró, explained that the restaurant has transformed into a space that documents Lamine's journey, featuring his framed shirt worn in the European Championship final, alongside photos from his key moments with FC Barcelona.
He said: "I have worked my whole life, and I couldn't stop working. I wanted to relax, but staying at home didn't suit me, so I decided to open a small restaurant in the neighborhood."
He revealed that he has been caring for Lamine since his childhood, adding: "He spent most of his time at my house, and I took care of him as if he were one of my own children. To me, he is my son and will always be."
He noted that he doesn't meet with him often these days due to commitments, but he makes sure to stay in touch via WhatsApp. He always advises him to focus on nutrition, rest, going to bed early before matches, and maintaining his calm and concentration.
He concluded by emphasizing that the family never expected Lamine to reach this level, saying: "We never imagined he would achieve what he has. What he is accomplishing is unbelievable."
