Gordon and Adiemi Give Barcelona's Attack the Speed Flick Wanted

Barcelona has completed its wing reinforcement by signing Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, in deals orchestrated by Deco and Hans Flick since May. The aim is to add speed and the ability to exploit spaces behind opponents' defenses, according to Spanish newspaper "Sport."

The report indicates that Gordon has joined from Newcastle on a contract until 2031 for a fixed fee of €70 million and €10 million in variables. Meanwhile, Adeyemi has transferred from Borussia Dortmund for €22 million, plus €7 million in variables, with the German club retaining a percentage of any future resale profits.

Sport newspaper added that Hans Flick played an important role in the signing of Adeyemi, having been the coach who gave him his first appearance with the German national team. The player also benefited from a break after missing the final stage of the World Cup.

The report confirmed that Gordon topped the CIES Football Observatory ranking in February 2026 as the fastest winger in the Champions League, clocking in at 37.9 kilometers per hour, while Adeyemi recorded a speed of 36.7 kilometers per hour in the Bundesliga during 2023.

The report indicates that Ademi can play on the wings, while Gordon excels in high pressing and off-the-ball work, qualities that align well with Flick's style.
