Barcelona's Inquiry About Diomande as Real Madrid Moves Closer

Barcelona inquired several months ago about the situation of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, but Leipzig's insistence on keeping the player prevented any negotiations from taking place, before Real Madrid moved closer to finalizing the deal, according to "Mundo Deportivo."

The report indicates that Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Leipzig to acquire Diomande, who is 19 years old, on a contract that extends until 2031, in a deal that could be worth around €120 million, after initially starting negotiations with a €90 million offer, while Paris Saint-Germain has withdrawn from the competition.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona has contacted RB Leipzig to inquire about the player's situation, taking advantage of the good relationship between the two clubs. However, the German club has confirmed that they are not willing to sell Diomande unless an offer exceeds €100 million, a figure that Barcelona is not considering.

Barcelona has held meetings with the player's representatives during April and May, after he had an impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in 36 matches.

With the possibility of signing Marcus Rashford faltering, Barcelona shifted its focus to Anthony Gordon, ultimately securing his transfer for €70 million, along with €10 million in variables, a choice favored by coach Hans Flick.

The report clarified that Diomande also received offers from clubs in the Premier League and Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain reached an agreement with the player without concluding negotiations with Leipzig, before Real Madrid made a substantial financial offer that the German club is on the verge of accepting.
