Koubarci: Proud of My Roots, Hopes Kids Enjoy Football Like I Did
Barcelona and Spain defender Pau Cubarsí was greeted with a special reception in his hometown of Viablarich after returning crowned with the Best Young Player award at the 2026 World Cup, which he earned following his significant contribution to Spain's title victory, having delivered an exceptional tournament and led a defense that conceded only one goal throughout the competition.
During the ceremony, attended by more than 500 people from his hometown, Koubarci expressed his great happiness at this honor, saying: "I am very happy to be here with you. It was a dream to bring this important trophy to my town, and I hope we all enjoy it."
He added: "I feel a great pride to share this moment with you, and I know you have always supported me from here." He also thanked everyone who has stood by him since the beginning, affirming that this recognition holds special value for him.
The Barcelona defender did not forget to talk about his roots, saying: "I thank my school and the institute for all the values they instilled in me, and for the friends I met there, as they are like family to me."
He added: "I am very proud of the roots I have built here in my hometown. I will never forget those evenings in the square and the pool, and I hope the children continue to enjoy all of that."
He also delivered an inspiring message to the young ones, saying: "Enjoy football, be yourselves, and don't rush things. The journey is very beautiful and goes by quickly, and if something is meant for you, it will come in its own time."
Koubarci continues to solidify his status as one of the most promising defenders in global football, having been crowned Best Young Player at the 2026 World Cup at just nineteen years old. This achievement confirms that the future holds great things for the Spanish star, who has become a key player for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
