The Iraqi Football Federation continues its efforts to determine the future of Australian head coach Graham Arnold, with ongoing negotiations between the two parties regarding the extension of his contract with the "Lions of Mesopotamia." There is a clear divergence in opinions regarding the duration of the new contract.

According to sources, the Iraqi Football Federation is seeking to retain Arnold as head coach with a contract extending for four years, as part of a long-term plan aimed at maintaining the technical stability of the national team during the upcoming phase.

Meanwhile, the Australian coach is holding on to the idea of a one-year renewal, which does not currently align with the vision of the federation officials, leaving negotiations ongoing without reaching a final agreement.

At the same time, the Iraqi Football Federation has not overlooked the need for alternatives in case of any setbacks in the negotiations, as it continues to study a number of foreign coaching names in preparation for a swift move should the talks with Arnold fail.
