CAF Sets Date for Africa Champions League and Confederation Cup Draw
A Moroccan news report revealed on Monday evening the date set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the draw of the 2025-2026 Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The Moroccan site "Al-Botola" confirmed that the CAF Club Competitions Committee has tentatively set August 6 as the date for the draw of the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup in Cairo.
The new season sees Zamalek and Pyramids representing Egyptian football in the CAF Champions League, while Al Ahly and ZED FC will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The upcoming draws are expected to determine the matchups for the preliminary round, as well as chart the course for participating clubs towards the later stages of both continental tournaments.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected the proposal submitted by Egypt to increase the number of teams participating in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup. As a result, both continental competitions will continue under their current format without any changes to the number of competing clubs.
