Besiktas Withdraws from Mohamed Salah Deal

The sporting director of Turkish club Besiktas confirmed in press statements that the club has officially withdrawn from negotiations to sign Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, due to the financial demands of his agent, Ramy Abbas.

The sporting director stated: "The demands of Mohamed Salah's agent would have put the club in a financial crisis, and I don't believe that Mohamed Salah himself was aware of these demands."

He added: "We were asked to grant image rights that have never been provided by Besiktas to any player or employee in the club's history, which was unacceptable to us."

The club's management has been clear in its position, stating: "The club president has set a clear limit on negotiations, and there was no room to backtrack on our stance."

He added: "Exceeding the legal ceiling for player agent commissions is something we cannot accept, as we are committed to the laws and financial policies of the club."

He concluded his statements by emphasizing that Besiktas' interests were the priority, saying: "We chose the realistic decision instead of the populist one, which is why we withdrew from negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah. The interests of Besiktas come above any deal, and that’s why we left the negotiating table."
