Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić, aged 46, has officially announced his retirement from officiating, concluding one of the most distinguished careers in the history of European and global football referees.

Finchich's decision comes just weeks after he officiated the 2026 World Cup Final, which saw Spain and Argentina face off, with Spain claiming the title for the second time in its history after winning 1-0.

The Slovenian referee's career has seen many historic milestones, having officiated the UEFA Champions League final, the UEFA Europa League final, and the FIFA World Cup final, making him one of the few referees to have reached the pinnacle of football officiating.

He also participated in two editions of the World Cup in 2022 and 2026, alongside his presence in four UEFA European Championships in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024, concluding his career with an exceptional record that places him among the top referees in the history of the game.
