Al-Zawraa Close to Signing Colombian Striker
Al-Zawraa is nearing the completion of a contract with Colombian striker Kevin Steven Quijada, in a move aimed at bolstering the firepower of the "Nawaris" ahead of the new season of the Iraqi Premier League.
Kijada is 23 years old, born on October 15, 2002, in Jamundí, Colombia. Standing at 1.87 meters tall, he has an advantage in aerial and physical duels, playing as a central striker relying on his right foot. His current market value is estimated at €550,000. The player is known by the nickname "The Killer in the Box" due to his classic style inside the 18-yard area, where he excels in positioning, finishing attacks, and shooting with both feet, in addition to his remarkable jumping ability that makes him a key asset in crosses and corners. Kijada began his career in Brazil's academies with Grêmio before moving on loan to San José, followed by a brief stint in Argentina with Barracas Central. He then traveled to Portugal, signing with Feirense, before returning to Colombia on loan to Cúcuta, where he contributed to their promotion. His last stop was in January 2026 with Estudiantes de Mérida in Venezuela, where he emerged as one of the league's top scorers. The deal to purchase the player's contract comes to address the needs of the front line based on direct technical recommendations, joining a strong series of signings made by Al-Zawraa this summer alongside Ali Adnan, Ahmed Basel, and Luay Al-Ani.
