2026 UEFA Super Cup Final Referees Announced

UEFA has revealed the officiating team that will oversee the clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup final, scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.

The match will be officiated by referee Omar Abdelkader Artan, assisted by Abdelrazak Liban as the first assistant and Stephen Yimby as the second assistant, while Rady Obrinovic will serve as the fourth official.

In terms of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, Italian Marco Di Bello has been appointed as the video referee, while Guillermo Cuadra will take on the role of assistant video referee.

The match brings together Paris Saint-Germain, the Champions League winners, and Aston Villa, the Europa League champions, in a much-anticipated encounter where both teams aim to start the European season by claiming their first continental trophy.

The appointment of Somali referee Omar Abdul Qadir Artan to officiate the UEFA Super Cup final is viewed as a supportive step by UEFA, after he was denied participation in the 2026 World Cup due to his inability to enter the United States, despite being selected among the referees who were set to officiate matches in the tournament.
