Wydad Close to Signing Portuguese Paulo Sergio

Wydad Athletic Club is nearing the conclusion of their search for a new head coach, as negotiations with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio have entered the final stages, paving the way for him to take charge of the first team at the start of the upcoming football season.

According to the Portuguese site "Maisfutebol", Wydad's management is on the verge of reaching a final agreement with the 58-year-old Portuguese coach, with a contract extending for one season, pending the completion of final procedures before the official announcement.

According to the same source, Paulo Sergio is getting ready to take on his first coaching experience on the African continent, following a lengthy career that has seen him move between various leagues outside of Portugal, providing him with significant experience ahead of his new challenge with the Moroccan club.

The Portuguese coach arrives at Wydad after a two-year experience in the Saudi league, having previously worked in several leagues, notably in Scotland, Romania, Cyprus, Iran, and the UAE, along with other coaching stints, which have provided him with extensive international experience.

Wydad Casablanca's management is looking to sign Paulo Sergio as part of their preparations for the new season, banking on his technical expertise to lead the team in the competition for domestic and continental titles, and to work on bringing the club back to prominence in the upcoming phase.
