Inter Pushes to Sign Romero as Kivu Makes Him a Priority

Inter Milan continues its efforts to sign Argentine defender Cristian Romero, the captain of Tottenham, after coach Cristian Kivu identified him as his first choice to strengthen the backline during the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan's sporting director, Piero Ausilio, has confirmed genuine interest in the transfer deal, noting that negotiations are still in the early stages. There are ongoing communications with both Tottenham's management and the player's representatives, but completing the deal will not be easy due to its high financial value.

Tottenham evaluates their Argentine defender at between €45 and €50 million, in addition to an annual salary of around €6.5 million, making the deal one of the most complicated for the Italian club this summer.

Inter's interest in Romero comes after the departure of several defenders, most notably Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, and Matteo Darmian. Additionally, comments from Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who stated, "If someone is not happy and proud to stay here, they should leave," may provide further impetus for the potential departure of some players, including Romero.
