Discover the Key Transfers of Al-Student Club
Al-Student Club is gearing up for an exceptional season in the Iraqi Premier League after making several important signings during the current summer transfer window that opened on July 1. The goal is clear: to compete for the league title. The team finished last season 2025-2026 in sixth place with 65 points, achieved through 18 wins, 11 draws, and 9 losses. These results did not satisfy the ambitions of the fans and management, who were hoping for a spot in the top four. With increasing pressure from the fans, the management is trying to reconcile with supporters and build a team capable of challenging the giants. The declared objective for the new season is to enter the title race strongly, despite the difficulty of the task. Al-Student is considered one of the lower-spending big clubs in the transfer market, as it is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which does not have the same financial support as clubs like Al-Police and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. Despite this, the management has succeeded in securing several strong deals, the most notable being the signing of Jordanian national team player Rjaei Ayed for two seasons at a value of $500,000. The club also signed Nigerian striker Ibrahim Tomio, Tunisian Aziz Shatiwi, Iranian players Jafar Salmani and Milad Ali, and Ivorian Shamu Karuboi. Additionally, they renewed the contract of Tunisian professional Ghaith Al-Maaroufi. On the local front, Al-Student renewed contracts for 15 players, including Ala Abdul-Zahra, national team star Zaid Ismail, who decided to stay, and midfielder Mohamed Mazhar. They also completed the signing of midfielder Karrar Nabil. The elegant fans are looking forward to ending a long drought of titles, as Al-Student's last Iraqi league championship was in the 2001-2002 season. Since then, the team has been unable to reclaim the trophy despite competing in some seasons. With these new signings and a mix of local experience and foreign professionals, Al-Student's management hopes that the new season will mark the beginning of the team's return to prominence and bring joy to its supporters.
