Worker Dies During Spotify Camp Nou Renovation

A 54-year-old worker passed away today, Friday, due to a work accident while participating in the redevelopment project of the Spotify Camp Nou. This marks the first fatal work incident since the comprehensive renovation of Barcelona's stadium began in June 2023.

According to "Mundo Deportivo," the worker was performing painting tasks on a lift platform when an unintentional mistake led to his death.

Mousos Discuadra police confirmed they received a report of the incident around 3:30 PM, and responded to the scene alongside the investigation unit and emergency medical services, but were unable to save the worker.

Renovation work at Spotify Camp Nou has been ongoing since June 1, 2023, with thousands of workers participating. Recently, the structure of the new third tier has been completed, while current efforts are focused on creating a pressure ring to support the stadium's roof.

The police stated that the worker died as a result of the blow he received while working on the Barcelona stadium redevelopment project, confirming that legal proceedings related to the incident have begun.

The police concluded their statement by confirming that the on-duty investigating judge and the relevant departments have been informed about the incident, in accordance with the protocols in place for such cases.
