CAS to Resolve Africa Cup Title Controversy in October

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled a hearing for October 8, 2026, concerning the case linked to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, following an appeal by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision regarding the final match against Morocco. This hearing represents a critical juncture in the dispute that has sparked widespread controversy within African sports circles.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to declare the Senegalese national team a 3-0 administrative loser following the events that occurred during the final match, thus awarding the championship title to the Moroccan team. However, the Senegalese federation rejected the decision and turned to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, demanding its annulment and the reinstatement of the match result on the field.
