Inter Milan Accelerates Talks for Romero, Key Meeting with Player's Agents

Inter Milan has intensified its efforts to secure the signing of Argentine defender Cristian Romero, currently at Tottenham Hotspur, during this summer transfer window, as part of its strategy to strengthen the defense ahead of the new season.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Inter has already started negotiations with Tottenham, noting that officials from the Italian club will hold a meeting with Romero's agents this week to discuss the details of the deal.

Romano clarified that the meeting will take place at 100%, reflecting Inter's seriousness in signing the Argentine international, whose contract with Tottenham runs until June 2029. The deal is expected to be costly for the Serie A champions.

Football Italia reports that Tottenham has earmarked around €50 million for the sale of Cristian Romero, who has previous experience in Serie A after playing 88 matches for Atalanta and Genoa.

Meanwhile, Romano noted that Inter has eased its interest in signing Jed Spence from Tottenham, after the English club raised its financial demands to nearly €50 million following his impressive showing at the World Cup.

Romero has become Inter Milan's primary defensive target during the current transfer window, as the Italian club focuses its efforts on finalizing the deal, prioritizing it over any other negotiations related to signing a new right-back.
