Argentine FA Issues Statement on Tappia and Tovigino's Court Summons in the US

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has released an official statement in response to media reports circulating over the past few hours, confirming that the document referenced by some media outlets does not include any legal summons directed at the association's president, Claudio Tapia, or treasurer Pablo Toviggino.

The federation clarified that the subpoena issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida is directed at a third party, who has been asked to appear before a grand jury and provide documents and communications related to several individuals, including officials from the Argentine federation, without implying their personal summons.

The statement emphasized that reports about Tabbia or Tovighino being summoned to testify before U.S. courts, or the confiscation of their mobile phones or any other electronic devices, are "completely false claims." It confirmed that the document does not impose any legal obligation or judicial action on them, nor does it include any orders for the confiscation of their properties.

In its closing statement, the Argentine Football Association urged media outlets to verify documents before publishing news, warning that disseminating inaccurate or misleading information harms the reputation of individuals and institutions. It also reaffirmed its right to take legal action against anyone promoting false or misleading information that could damage the association or its officials.
