Mustafa Mohamed Returns to Nantes Training After Month-Long Absence
Egyptian international Mustafa Mohamed has returned to the fold at French club Nantes, making his presence felt once again at the team's training facilities. This marks the end of a nearly month-long absence since the start of preparations for the new season.
According to Ouest-France, today, Wednesday, Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah has been training individually at the "La Jonelière" center, away from the first team, which is holding its pre-season camp in La Baule. He will continue training with the reserve team until further notice.
Mustafa Mohamed has missed all training sessions since the start of Nantes' preparatory camp on June 24, without joining the team's preparations for the new season.
Nantes coach Michel Der Zakarian has previously criticized the player's attitude, emphasizing that the club is not responsible for his absence, and that the decision to return to training lies with the player if he wishes to do so.
Nantes does not include the Egyptian striker in their technical plans for the upcoming season, but they also refuse to let him go without compensation, having signed him from Galatasaray for €6.5 million during the summer of 2023.
Mustafa Mohamed continues to search for a new destination during the current summer transfer window, frustrated by his omission from Egypt's squad for the 2026 World Cup, with only one year remaining on his contract with the French club.
Nantes is preparing to compete in Ligue 2 next season after finishing last season in 17th place, just above the bottom, officially relegating from the top division.
