Wydad Casablanca has entered a new administrative phase in its history, following the results of the ordinary and electoral general assembly, which saw Ibrahim Al-Asri elected as the new president of the club. He succeeds Hicham Ait Menna in leading the Red Castle after an electoral competition that extended over two rounds.

Al-Asri has clinched the presidency after receiving 72 votes, compared to 56 votes for his rival Yassine Saadallah, earning the trust of the members as Wydad supporters eagerly await the team's return to competitive prominence.

Ibrahim Al-Asri is a well-known name within the Wydadi family, having been associated with the club for years as an active member. He previously served on the board of directors during the tenure of former president Abdelmajid Bernaki, which provided him with practical experience and extensive knowledge of the administrative and sporting management details within the club.

Professionally, the new president comes from the business and investment sector, holding executive positions in several companies and investment projects in Morocco.

Its activities extend to shipping, logistics services, and international transport, expertise that Wydad Casablanca relies on to enhance governance and improve the club's financial and administrative management.

Al-Asri is known for his close ties with various components of Wydad, having maintained good relationships with officials, players, and coaches, and has been present at many club events. Recently, he has been one of the most vocal critics of the previous management's approach, expressing on multiple occasions his desire to establish a new model based on governance and effective management.

The new president starts his mission at a crucial time, following a season that fell short of fans' expectations both domestically and continentally, presenting him with significant challenges. Restoring stability within the club, settling administrative and financial issues, and launching a sports project to bring Wydad back to the podiums and enhance its presence in continental competitions are at the forefront of his agenda.

Al-Asiri will face his first real test since taking office in gaining the trust of Wydad fans, who are waiting to see electoral promises transformed into practical steps, by building a competitive team that can restore the status befitting the history of Wydad Athletic Club as one of the largest clubs on the African continent.
