Italian FA President Confirms Talks with Guardiola

Giovanni Malagò, the president of the Italian Football Federation, has confirmed that negotiations are underway with Spanish coach Pep Guardiola to take over the management of the Italian national team in the near future.

Malago admitted that there are challenges related to the budget and financing the transfer, but he clarified that the federation can resort to exceptions in certain cases if it is deemed worthwhile.

The federation president also noted that the list of candidates includes prominent Italian names, led by Roberto Mancini and Andrea Pirlo, in anticipation of any developments regarding the new coach.

Malago clarified that Guardiola remains the top choice for the Italian Football Federation, but he emphasized that reaching an agreement is not easy, stating: "Things may not work out." He confirmed that if negotiations with him falter, the focus will shift to hiring an Italian coach.
