Journalists Banned from Wydad General Assembly
The ordinary and electoral general assembly of Wydad Casablanca for the 2025-2026 season witnessed a development that sparked controversy, as several journalists were barred from entering the meeting hall, which is being held today at a hotel in Casablanca.
This decision came as a surprise, with no prior warning in the convocations or official statements issued before the general assembly, which sparked widespread discontent in media circles.
Several journalists have deemed the ban on media coverage of the general assembly as a regression of the principle of transparency, impacting the public's right to access information, especially since this concerns an electoral event for one of the largest fan clubs in Morocco.
Meanwhile, followers raised several questions regarding the motives behind this decision, considering that the lack of media coverage opens the door to questions about the reasons for what they described as "media blackout" during an election general assembly that enjoys wide public and media interest.
