Manchester United Initiates Talks with Roma for Manu Kone

Manchester United has initiated formal negotiations with Roma to sign French midfielder Manu Kone during the summer transfer window, in a deal that could reach a value of €60 million.

According to French newspaper "L'Équipe", Manchester United has moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Kone, having initiated direct talks with Roma, capitalizing on the player's impressive performances with the French national team in the 2026 World Cup.

Kone's strong performances during the World Cup have raised his market value from €50 million to at least €60 million, as he established himself in the starting lineup for the French national team.

The newspaper added that Roma, despite qualifying for the Champions League, needs to sell some of its players to secure financial resources. Kone is considered one of the top candidates to generate a significant return.

It has been reported that two other clubs from the Premier League, believed to include Liverpool, have shown interest in signing the player, but Manchester United still holds the upper hand in the race to secure his contract.

The report indicated that Manchester United's withdrawal from the deal for Ederson, the Atalanta player, could be a result of changing their transfer priorities and focusing on signing Koné.
