Expected Delay in Senegal's AFCON Final Appeal Decision

The appeal filed by the Senegal Football Federation with the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding the Africa Cup of Nations final is still at a standstill, with no final decision in sight, leaving the dispute open amid significant anticipation for the international sports body's stance.

According to the Spanish site "IUSPORT", which specializes in sports law, the ruling that was expected to be issued in July will not be released on time, with a postponement to October being the earliest estimate.

The report clarified that the hearing session concerning the dispute over the determination of the Africa Cup of Nations champion is expected to be held in September, after which the case will move to the deliberation phase, a stage that may take about a month before a final ruling is issued.

This development comes after the Senegalese Football Federation decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which awarded the Africa Cup of Nations title to the Moroccan national team, following the events that occurred during the final match between the two teams last January, after Senegal was deemed to have withdrawn from the match.

Despite months passing since the case was opened, no official statements have been issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport or the Confederation of African Football regarding the hearing date or the final ruling announcement. The matter remains unresolved until a decision is made that will definitively settle the controversy.
