Nico Schlotterbeck has been ruled out of Real Madrid's plans during the current summer transfer window, as his chances of moving to the royal club diminished following a serious injury he sustained in the World Cup. This effectively ends the speculation linking the German defender with a transfer to Santiago Bernabéu.

Nico Schlotterbeck, 26, is among the names Real Madrid is considering to strengthen their defense. His new contract with Borussia Dortmund includes a clause allowing him to leave this summer for clubs like Real Madrid for a fee of €50 million.

However, the injury sustained by the player during the World Cup changed the course of negotiations, before the release clause also expired, which reinforced his stay at Borussia Dortmund. The German newspaper "Bild" confirmed that the defender will not leave the club during the current transfer window.

Nico Schlotterbeck is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury that will keep him out of action for some time, after renewing his contract with Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2031.

Thus, Borussia Dortmund achieves its goal of keeping one of its standout defenders, as the transfer of Schlotterbeck to Real Madrid has been closed during the current summer transfer window.
