Zidane Set to Take Over as France Coach in September

Zinedine Zidane is preparing to officially begin his tenure as the head coach of the French national team, following the end of Didier Deschamps' era, which concludes with a match against England in the third-place playoff of the 2026 World Cup.

According to a special report by French newspaper "L'Équipe", the official announcement regarding Zinedine Zidane's appointment has not yet been set, but the French coach will officially begin his duties starting September 1.

The newspaper added that the documents exchanged between the French Football Federation and Zidane specified September 1 as the date for the contracts of the coach and his staff to take effect, marking the beginning of a new phase for the French national team.

Zinedine Zidane will start his mission before the French national team plays four matches in the UEFA Nations League, facing Turkey on September 25, then Belgium on September 28, before hosting Italy on October 2, and concluding this phase with another match against Belgium on October 5.

Zinedine Zidane is set to lead the French national team in his first official assignment after taking over the coaching role following Didier Deschamps' tenure with the Blues at the 2026 World Cup.
