Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, the former head coach of Zamalek, confirmed that he tried to bring Hossam Abdel-Majid to Mexican club Tijuana during his time in charge of the team. He also shared his thoughts on Egypt's performance in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Osorio stated during an appearance on the program "Ya Masaa Al-Anwar" broadcast on MBC Masr 2: "First, I would like to salute Medhat Abdelhadi, as there are great memories that we share from my time at Zamalek."

Osorio spoke about the level of African teams in the World Cup, stating: "African teams have performed better during the World Cup competitions, and African football has developed significantly, especially in terms of physicality. The Egyptian national team also showed a good performance at the start of their group stage journey, with a clear improvement in their level."

He added: "I liked the style with which Hossam Hassan started the match against Argentina, but the water break divided the game into four quarters instead of two halves, which affected the flow of the match."

He continued: "The Egypt national team should have adjusted their strategy after going ahead by two goals, especially after Lionel Messi missed a penalty. I believe that the disallowed Egyptian goal against Argentina was the best in the tournament, and the Egyptian team was superior in aerial duels against Argentina."

Osorio revealed details regarding Hossam Abdel-Meguid, stating: "I am very happy with Hossam Abdel-Meguid's move to Bulgaria. I had previously tried to sign him for Tijuana in Mexico during my time with the team, but the deal did not go through."

Osorio concluded his statements by saying: "I thank the Zamalek fans for their support, and I also thank Shikabala for the comments he made earlier."
