Moroccan Football Federation Reaffirms Trust in Mohamed Wahbi
The Executive Office of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has made its decision regarding the future of national coach Mohamed Wahbi, opting to renew its confidence in him to continue leading the Moroccan national team in the upcoming phase. This decision came after a meeting held today, Thursday, July 16, 2026, chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa at the federation's headquarters.
The decision to retain Walid Regragui came after a comprehensive evaluation of the national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup, where members of the board deemed that the "Atlas Lions" delivered a positive and honorable performance, culminating in reaching the quarter-finals, reflecting the continued strong presence of Moroccan football on the international stage.
The Moroccan Football Federation confirmed that the upcoming phase requires maintaining technical stability and continuing to build on the gains achieved in recent years, ensuring the continuity of the sports project and achieving further successes.
The federation stressed that the focus will be on preparing for upcoming challenges, primarily the 2030 World Cup finals, which will be hosted by Morocco in partnership with Spain and Portugal, as part of the ambition to continue enhancing the status of Moroccan football on both the continental and international stages.
