Chelsea Battles Manchester United for Manu Kone
Chelsea has entered a direct competition with Manchester United for the signing of Roma midfielder, Frenchman Manu Kone, during the summer transfer window.
TEAMtalk reports that Chelsea has reached out to Roma to discuss the potential signing of a player, taking advantage of the ongoing negotiations between the two clubs regarding the Italian side's interest in Alejandro Garnacho.
The report added that Manchester United is still interested in acquiring Koné, while Roma is asking for around £50 million to agree to sell the French midfielder.
Chelsea believes that Coné, 25, would be a strong addition to their midfield, while Manchester United sees him as the right choice to compensate for Casemiro's departure and bolster their defensive strength in that position.
The source noted that the player has delivered impressive performances in Italy and Germany, as well as shining with the French national team in the 2026 World Cup, which has increased clubs' interest in his services.
The final decision rests with Koulibaly, as Manchester United holds the advantage of participating in the Champions League, while Chelsea will miss out on European competitions next season.
