Wydad Excludes Four Lists from Presidential Race
Wydad Casablanca has made its position clear regarding the candidacy files for the club presidency elections, announcing through an official statement the exclusion of four lists from the competition due to their failure to meet the legal and regulatory requirements outlined in the club's statutes.
The governing board explained that the committee responsible for reviewing the candidacy files identified several irregularities, including the failure to meet the application requirements, the absence of legal status for some members of the lists, and non-compliance with the regulations governing the composition of the governing board.
The disqualified regulations included Anas Krami's list, as it was found to not meet the required conditions, in addition to the presence of members who do not hold the status of club affiliates. Meanwhile, some did not submit membership applications during the period when enrollment was open.
The committee has also decided to reject Yassine Saadallah's list after recording similar irregularities concerning the legal status of some members, as well as the failure to meet the stipulated conditions for participation in the elections.
Ibrahim Al-Asri's list did not pass the scrutiny phase, as it was found to include only eight members, while Article 23-1 of the statutes stipulates that the executive office must consist, in addition to the president, of nine to fifteen members.
In this context, Adil Tazir's list has been disqualified because neither the list's agent nor any of its members holds membership status at the club, which is one of the essential conditions for participating in the electoral race.
Meanwhile, the board of Wydad Athletic Club confirmed its commitment to ensuring that the electoral process proceeds with transparency and in accordance with legal regulations, noting that it has communicated with candidates whose lists include member affiliates, to inform them of the recorded observations and to grant them an additional opportunity to rectify their files and resubmit them.
The club has set July 16, 2026, at 6 PM as the final deadline to complete the required procedures, confirming that the acceptance of any file remains contingent upon the inclusion of all certified signatures specified, or at least one certified signature according to the defined conditions.
This announcement comes at a time when Wydad Casablanca fans are awaiting the outcomes of the current phase, with the date of the electoral assembly approaching, which will determine the final candidates competing for the presidency of the club in the upcoming phase.
