English star Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke about his first impressions during the pre-season preparations with Real Madrid, praising the intensive work led by Portuguese manager José Mourinho.

Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke to RM Play, saying: "Everything is going well. The weather is hot and there is a lot of intensity in training, but that is expected during the preparation period. We are going through tough training sessions, sometimes two a day, so the start has been very intense."

He added: "In the summer, you get two weeks of rest and then gradually start regaining your fitness, but when you enter the preparation period, you need to be physically ready, so I was very excited to come back."

Reflecting on working under José Mourinho, the English player stated: "I have always admired this coach. I have played against him several times, and it’s great to work with him and his coaching staff. He is a coach with a strong personality, and his principles and level of demands are very high."

He continued: "The more we get to know him, the more we will learn, and he is capable of teaching us a lot. All the players are excited to develop and improve, and I am confident that he will make us a better team and help us win titles this season."

Arnold concluded his remarks by stressing the goals of the preparation phase, saying: "The aim now is to reach the best physical condition, understand the way the coach wants us to play, and regain the rhythm of matches. I have been away from playing for a while, so it's good to be back and lay a strong foundation for a successful season."
