Rodri Confirms Guardiola's Prophecy
Spanish star Rodri has demonstrated in the 2026 World Cup that his return to the top was just a matter of time, after delivering impressive performances with the Spanish national team and helping guide them to the final.
This strong comeback reaffirms the statements made by his former coach Pep Guardiola last October, when he expressed complete confidence in Rodri's ability to regain his best form after the serious knee injury he suffered.
Pep Guardiola said last October: "Rodri has been and still is an exceptional player, and everyone knows that without a doubt, but as I told Rodri, it can sometimes be difficult for him to understand that it's not about passing 6 or 7 or 8 months to say: okay, after 8 months I will play and I will immediately return to being the same Rodri I was before... No, it doesn't work that way."
He added: "Rodri will be good, of course, but perhaps in the World Cup we will see the best version of Rodri, and next season we will see the best version of him ever."
Rodri had a difficult period over the past two seasons due to a serious knee injury that affected his consistency and ability to return quickly to his usual level.
What he is currently delivering with the Spanish national team, especially in the knockout stages, reflects the player's regained physical fitness and technical confidence, as he has established himself as one of the best players of the tournament through his control of the midfield and ability to manage the rhythm of the matches.
