Palhinha Turns Down Saudi Offer to Stay in Europe
Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha, recently returned to Bayern Munich from a loan spell at Tottenham, has turned down a substantial financial offer from a Saudi club, opting instead to continue his career in European football.
According to Mais Futebol, the midfielder places staying close to his family and competing in more challenging leagues at the top of his priorities, which led him to reject a move to the Saudi league.
The report indicated that Palhinha is open to returning to Portugal, with Benfica interested in securing his services during the current summer transfer window.
However, the deal remains stalled, as Benfica has not yet met Bayern Munich's financial requests, with the German club insisting on a fee of €25 million. This means Benfica will need to lower their demands if they wish to finalize the player's transfer.
